can't get webcam to install totally

I have a labtech webcam 5.1.0 install disc thats for 98, ME, 2000 and xp..It installs everything then restarts the computer and asks you to plug in the camera(USB).I plug it in but it won't show any picture not even blackness so I can't finish the process.I have xp and I had it working before I reformated the hard drive but I remember downloadinga newer driver than what was on the disc . I can't find the driver to download.The sites I get to are complicated and seem to download other things even though I press for 5.1.0. Does anyone know where the right driver is or what could be wrong?
