I wish to install an earlier version of VLC Media Player (version earlier to 1.1.0 to be precise)in Ubuntu 10.10. How do I go about it? All installation guides install the latest version!
Why? For some reason I find that versions 1.1.0 onwards, both in Windows and Linux, File Conversion does not work

Earlier versions have known security issues.
You should not install them.
If you have regressions earlier version worked better for you you should report bugs instead:
