unable to run .mpeg video in windows movie maker

can not get my video from my sony handycam 650 to work in windows movie maker. it works on sony pmb program and windows media player.i downloaded free version of foxtab video converter ,but does not work,i hit start as instructed and get a message which says failed.there is no other feed back.
please help

forgot to mention im running windows xp service pack 3.also video is NOT working in media player. hope this helps more

It means there is no decoder for this video encoding. Did you try Gspot to see if it can find a codec for you?

i tried to download gspot got message in lower bar saying " transferring data from ping. crowdscience.com" for 10 minutes. i stopped and am wondering if my comp is adequate it is an emachine w3118,amd sempron(tm)processor 3100+ with 1.81ghz and 1.96 gb ram

Try other download locations you find with google.

I would think Bob has got the GSpot CoDec utility already.
